Jewish Genealogy, Online Resources for Jewish Genealogy in Chicagoland
Presented by Mike Karsen from the Jewish Genealogical Society of Illinois
This presentation provides an overview of all online records and resources that are useful to the Jewish researcher in search of their Chicago roots. We begin with a brief history of the Jews of Chicago. It concentrates on the uniquely Jewish resources such as cemeteries, funeral homes, life in Jewish Chicago which includes online publications which are searchable.
Almost half of the program covers online records that are common to all Chicago researchers including death records, naturalization process, location/residence records, and legal documents including wills and probate files.
